Role Description
We have a current vacancy for the role of Club Development Officer. The Club Development Officer is responsible for overseeing the growth, sustainability, and improvement of the club by developing and implementing strategic initiatives. This role ensures that the club operates effectively, maintains high standards, and provides a progressive and inclusive environment for all members.
Duties / Responsibilities
- Liaise with a designated Athletics NI Contact. The development officer will own the Club Self Assessment Tool and reporting on maturity within the committee (https://athleticsni.org/Clubs/Club-Self~Assessment-Tool)
- Coordinating the production and delivery of a Club development plan and Athletics NI artefacts to demonstrate mature club governance and structure.
- Working with the committee to ensure that there are the human and financial resources to deliver on the development plan.
- Ensure the long-term direction of the club by regularly reflecting and delivering initiatives in the development plan.
- To devise, manage and review a strategy that continues to move the Club forward.
- Gain feedback from the coaches on committee proposals, decisions and policies.
- To maintain the Club ethos and vision on development and how we best serve our members.
- To work with the head coach to identify and record those that need coaching development.
- Identify and share best practices.

- Develop and implement strategies to improve training, recruitment, and funding.

Skills and Qualities Required
- Experience of Club Development at other voluntary or community organisations
- Strong strategic planning and organisational skills.
- Knowledge of club governance and development principles.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage with members, coaches, and external bodies.
- Ability to analyse data and provide recommendations for club improvements.
- Experience in coordinating development programs and working with volunteers.
- Passion for running, athletics, and community engagement.
Time Commitment
This is a volunteer role. The role of the Club Development Officer will require a commitment of approximately 6 hours per month. Additional time may be required during development plan formulation.
