# Your First CRC Run

Nervous about turning up? Here is exactly what happens, and what you need.

## Your first run is free

You do not need to be a member to try us. Come along to a club session, see how you get on, and join afterwards if it suits you.

## Do I have to be fast?

No. While most of us dream of getting faster, the reality is not all of us want to constantly improve. There are folks in our club who get last place at local races, and some that get first. Most of us are somewhere in the middle. Generally speaking there is always someone in front of you and we aim to leave no one behind.

## How fast do the groups actually go?

Most people that go to the group runs fall somewhere between a 5 1/2 min to 6 1/2 min per km pace for an average easy run. Yes, there is usually a group that goes faster than this as well (~5 min pace) but it is a small minority and you will know right away if you can hang with them or not.

Once you join, you will typically fall in with a group of those at similar pace. CRC is not about running fast. Even our fastest runners attend and participate in slow runs as this provides wider benefits.

## When do you run?

Our large membership runs almost every day of the week and there are always different runs to suit all levels.

There are organised runs from Sunday to Friday and we support the Knockbracken Parkrun every Saturday.

Sunday and Monday runs are particularly popular, with people at a variety of paces running at a conversational pace.

**[See the full weekly timetable](https://carryduffrc.com/club-info/training-times)** for times, locations and who each session suits.

## Where do you run from?

Our main base for running is **Lough Moss Leisure Centre, Hillsborough Road, Carryduff**.

From time to time runs will begin from Toasted Coffee Shop, Let's Go Hydro or Eight South, Ormeau Ozone or Knockbracken Health Care Park, depending on the activity, distance, time of day or exercises.

And we also finish where we start.

## What do I need to bring?

Nothing special for your first run. Comfortable clothes you can move in and a pair of trainers are enough.

As part of your first year membership fee, you will get a new club shirt or vest - the choice is yours. There is nothing you need to buy before you come along.

## How many people turn up?

There are over 200 people in the club. How many show up for runs varies from week to week.
